Paradise

We all need to take a break from our lives.

I sit there sipping my coffee, trying to catch your eye. 

We're both holding the same Eiffel trinket - a common ground. 

Who are you? I want to know you and make you mine. 

You take off your hat, coat and place your briefcase down. 

It started out as a business trip, but it's all pleasure now. 

Open up to me as we sit together in this cafe,

Before we have to take our flight tomorrow back to our lives. 

You study me through bottles of rum, but leave your thoughts at bay. 

Who am I? We're both bodies, just slaves to time. 

I'm so glad you found me at this Paradise. 

You're my mystery man, who I'm not sure I can trust. 

So, I wear my heart shaped sunglasses and let you take my hand. 

You notice my little old ring is beginning to turn to rust,

But we won't talk about that because he's in another land. 

Who are we? Does fate forbid this love to stand?

When you're gone, all I'll have is the cotton of this new red dress. 

You'll take with you your memories. I'll take the sacrifice. 

And all I'll be is another trinket you collect. 

Put me in your mantle so you'll remember the heist. 

Aren't you glad we met just once in this Paradise?

Realms

We make our own paths. 

~ One day, today will meet yesterday. ~

She was traveling through different realms, 

Trying to find a place where she could reign. 

She decided it was time to crown herself,

To finally become the ruler of her own place.

Nothing before has really ever made sense 

In all the different realms she has travelled.

She's fought her way at her own expense,

Coming out finding even more battles.

But one day she will sit on her own throne. 

She will finally be the ruler of her own kind.

One day she make it out of this to atone

For all the ailments that had once ruled her mind.

There's a place somewhere where she can be 

All that she has ever wanted to.

This is a place for only privileged eyes to see.

A place where anyone can awake renewed.

Only the ones who have shared a mind like hers

Will ever be invited into her kingdom.

They've caught madness, but found the cure,

Still holding on to faded times that can't be undone.

She'll sit there on her gorgeous thrown.

Oh, what plans she has for a change.

She'll change the only life she's ever known.

She just has to find her realm some day. 

She's been searching so she can save you,

And all the you you will ever be.

One day your past will be forgiven and renewed.

She knows she just needs to find the sanctuary.

The steps she took brought you here over time,

Like she's been setting up a stage.

You've been walking on her path to find

That she was following you the whole way.   

Now you sit here looking down from her throne,

A solid crown firmly placed on your heads.

She looks up from the past you chose on you own.

Sometimes all we need is a place to feel at ease.

Five in the morning.

I couldn't sleep last night,

But then I turn around to see your eyes.

I've been learning

How to leave my past behind,

But now only thoughts of you are in my mind.

Pure white sheets.

My ghosts are still haunting.

You place your arm safely around me.

I've been healing

From the ailments in my past.

You embrace me, making it all worth it at last.

Sun in the window.

I thought darkness was a way to live.

Finally, you're the ray of hope shining in.

For those fairytales to come true.

Finally, the person I've been dreaming of is you.

This was worth the wait.

I finally found the place where I feel safe.

I've been searching

For a way out of my dissatisfaction.

Now I've found someone I never imagined.

Our own sanctuary.

In here because it's built on love.

Now I'm happy.

I know that as I wake by your side.

You can't take your morning eyes off of mine.

The rest of the world fades away.

Crystal Heart

Sometimes fate finds you when you least expect it.

Your voice is still clear in my mind.

I still feel your arms holding me close.

We said goodnight quite some while ago,

But you're stuck in my mind like a song I know. 

I hold my breath until I see you again.

You replay the last recording in your mind.

Minutes suddenly become millenniums,

And our thoughts ache more with time.

We wake up and fall asleep again.

A crystal heart hangs from a chain.

We find each other in our dreams.

Pictures add up to sums in frames.

Finally, I see your face and it lights up,

As though you're meeting a queen.

You hold me even closer,

As if we were apart for an eternity.

We walk in the crowded city,

Just two people part of an entire sea,

But we're the only ones who matter.

We're the only ones we see.

You see me shiver in the outside air 

And wrap one arm around me.

Like two pieces in a puzzle,

Our fingers intertwine so perfectly.

Your eyes are locked onto mine.

My head finds home on your chest.

We've found our fantasies in each other.

Our active minds can finally rest.

The Land of No Return

Everyone has been to their own land of no return before.

~ Come back. ~

I was relying too much on the demons that plagued me.

A thousand times I bled, thinking it the only way to save me.

They kept cutting deeper, and I relied on the beautiful pain.

I slipped more into your darkness, thinking it was the only way.

Thinking it was the only way.

There have been thorns on roses we've been so daring to touch.

They left scars on our calloused hearts, but our minds became drugged.

So, we took on a strange addiction, quickly stealing our souls away.

We've been persuaded we would stay static, but out minds became insane.

We've gone to the Land of No Return, falling down a thorny rabbit hole.

We've seen such visions and actions that only we're smart enough to know.

Time and time again, we've become accustomed to the same pattern.

We still like to play with fire, but only so we can feel the burn.

Accustomed to the same pattern. 

But this is the way that we needed it to be, isn't it?

Isn't it the demons and the chaos that we found complete comfort in?

Aren't they the ones who helped us cope when we thought we couldn't?

No. In reality, we shot the gun as we were taking their bullets.

Taking their bullets.

We're all relying too much on the demons that plague us.

Bleeding a thousand times, they'll never save us.

It seems as though we're all just slaves to our own afflictions.

We're old enough now to learn to break free from our additions.

Break free from our addictions.

The Land of No Return seems like such a beautiful place.

I've learned it is just a hideout for all the demons we won't face.

Now we're not fooled by a craving so tempting and taunting. 

We realized there was something much better we could be wanting. 

So tempting and taunting. 

I've been to The Land of No Return and back again. 

It's an experience not many can comprehend.

We're back now, but afraid we'll find it again one day. 

At least now we know that it's not the only way. 

Not the only way. 

Earthquake

It's not easy to say all the words in your mind.

~Take the leap.~ 

I can feel it, like an earthquake. 

It's so unpredictable and new. 

But I'm afraid I'll break,

If you know I feel it too. 

I can hear it like thunder in my mind. 

It's so pronounced and loud. 

But it's so hard to find

Just when to open my mouth. 

I've been holding back my tongue. 

I think it's time to tell. 

But then I grow numb.

Do you still feel it as well?

I've been so close to spilling,

Like a broken bottle to the floor. 

Every time I think I'm willing,

I bite my tongue some more. 

Is there a subtle way

To divulge my proclamation?

What would you say?

I think it'd help the conversation. 

But don't I already know? 

I've seen it between the lines. 

And I think you already know. 

All that's left is to speak my mind. 

I can feel it like pouring rain,

Washing all my troubles clean. 

But I am still afraid

For after I decide to take the leap. 

I can feel it like an earthquake.

It's so beautiful and new. 

You've had a long wait.

I've been thinking about you a lot, but all I've seen of you are words,

Written for my eyes to analyze.

More and more I grow founder, until finally your voice is heard. 

There's a sweeter accent to it. 

This is different than what I'm used to and my past begins to blur. 

It's unseasonably warm out, it matches my change of fate,

A harsh winter finally blossoming. 

As I walk towards the picture come to life, I begin to shake. 

The colors begin to form reality. 

Now we're eye to eye, already a smile painted on your face. 

It's been a long while, but this is what we've been waiting for. 

We've been counting calendar days. 

You seem surreal, like a Prince Charming come to my door. 

I'm used to the paupers. 

You talk. Unknowingly, effortlessly intriguing me more and more.  

Only the first few days, I've already become addicted. 

Is this a high or is it real? 

I take a step back, to save myself from becoming inflicted, 

A routine I've seen in my past. 

But maybe it's a fate that I couldn't have predicted. 

Suddenly, I feel myself slipping into a beautiful dream.

My world becomes a fairytale story.

When I open my eyes, everything is what it seems.

No monsters hiding behind pretty faces.

This is what I've been waiting for, and the future gleams.

Now there are anchors. More than just words decoded in a message,

More than just fancy phrases.

There's something in your actions that leaves much impression.

They say what the words don't.

We don't need words anymore because it's true perfection.
