Bravery

Everyone knows someone who has suffered, or maybe they have suffered themselves.  At the end of the day, they've made it out alive.  They've learned what braver really is.

How far we've come.
How fast we've grown.
There were so many demons on the way.

They tore us down.
They held us back.
We finally realized the choice was ours to make.

We've seen things
Some couldn't dream.
And there were days we didn't want to try.

We've been to hell,
The kind they made.
We got so lost inside our own minds.

We took the scars,
And all those bruises.
We used them in a new way for inspiration.

We embraced the faults
That plagued us once.
Finally learning perfection was overrated.

And we triumphed.
We made it out
Of the deep depths that kept us up at night.

Now we smile.
Now we shine.
Even though there's no such thing as completely fine.

We take it day,
By day, every day.
Knowing it's our bravery that helped us come back to life.
