Day 8

Prompt: Growing Older

They told us to enjoy our days,
But, baby dolls in hands, we ignored the advice.
We just wanted responsibility,
Freedom and ability to create our own rights.
We should have listened.

We started driving cars
And craving danger and affection.
We didn't want the responsibility
That came with the desires of our objections.
We're living immortality.

Now we stand on city streets,
Hanging on to small paychecks and memories.
We're living, breathing responsibility
And our life has become tragedies.
We should have listened.

We should have listened.
